Commissioned by Warringah Council for Anzac Day 2015. This memorial is situated on Sydney’s Northern Coastline at Collaroy Beach, north of South Collaroy Surf Club on the beach promenade. The work tells the story of a little girl knitting socks for the soldiers, sitting on a ‘care package’ destined for the WWI battle fields.
Composed of Moruya granite (as for Harbour Bridge Pylons) with bronze rope and ‘identity tag’ stamp. As an outdoor room this memorial space invites and welcomes users with wide steps, large seating spaces and a commemorative and interpretative story.
